Visconti is proud to announce the launch of the new Homo Sapiens Iris Garden inspired by the Iris Garden in Florence, Italy. This collection is a tribute to the beauty and elegance of the irises that bloom between the end of April and the end of May in the historic Florentine garden, located near the Piazzale Michelangelo and offers a stunning view of the city.
The Iris Flower
The history of the so-called “lily” of Florence is controversial. It seems that it originated from a white iris, the Iris Florentina, which grew abundantly in the Arno Valley during the Florentine Republic which the people called “ghiacciolo” or “icicle” for its white, slightly bluish color.
The iris is not only a symbol of Florence, but also of its rich history and culture. The lily was adapted as the emblem of the city in the 11th century, when it was used to decorate the banners and shields of the Florentine soldiers. The lily also represents wisdom, courage and faith, qualities that have characterized Florence throughout the centuries.
Like previous limited collections in the Homo Sapiens series, Iris Garden is made from special, semi-transparent demo resins carefully selected by Visconti’s designers. The highlight of the collection, however, is the rose gold trims that perfectly match the coloring of the resin and add a touch of light and exquisite detail to the design.
